10 April II World War Museum

This Museum is devoted to the Second World War, or to be precise to the Great Patriotic War. This terminology is used in the Russian Federation and some other former Soviet republics to refer to the period from 22 June 1941 to 9 May 1945 in the many fronts of the eastern campaign of World War II between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany with its allies. This war divides Russian history in 2 parts –pre-war and after the war.

In front of the Museum you will see the imposing and evocative Nika War Monumnet. Its height is 142 meters; each mark representing a day that the Soviet Union fought in the Great Patriotic War. Visitors to the Museum should understand the poignancy of the monument: 26 million Soviet citizens died fighting Nazi Germany.
