13 September State Central Theater Museum named after Bakhrushin

The State Central Theater Museum,  named after Bakhrushin, is unique. The museum was founded in the end of the XIX century by private collector and art patron Alexey Bakhrushin, who was truly passionate about the theater.

He was collecting pictures, theater decorations, ballet shoes and all the other items related to Russian Theater.

At the moment the museum collection boasts more than 1,5 million exhibits. There are maquettes (dolls) and theater costume drafts, decorations created by renowned craftsmen, pictures and portraits,  props and clothes that belonged to famous actors, event posters, rare books about theatrical art, applied and decorative arts items and many other interesting items.

The Museum is situated in Zamoskvorechie region of Moscow in a beautiful mansion, designed by the famous architect Gippius in 1896.
